BlueNotes is a deep dive into a whole world of color. This group of images fuses many of my gestural concerns with a kind of Yves Klien-like obsessesion with a very specific plant at at very specific time. The cornflower used to be classified as a weed. It only really flowers a couple of times a year in Southern California. The namesake shade of blue lasts for a brief period of days and fades quickly. However, as the flower is coming into bloom it takes an even more intense hue, one that holds light particularly well. During these windows I will spend hours shooting and re-shooting to get the best abstractions. Here are some of my favourites.
